OCTOBER 2021 NEWSLETTER

To quote the world famous 21st century poet, Rihanna - "He said me haffi work, work, work, work, work, work".  Black women, like the recently crowned billionaire Rihanna, have always put in work!  In fact, while I was doing research for this blog post, I wanted to use the well known "Rosie the Riveter" image, which is popular for depicting the strength of women workers during World War 2.  In searching for a version of this image that featured an African American woman, i stumbled upon several articles that explored the role Black women played in the war effort.  So while the propaganda of the time depicted a White woman lending her labor to the war effort, Black women also played a crucial and underappreciated role during this time.  Almost a century later, Black women continue to be the underappreciated backbone of our society!  We are the doctors, nurses, programmers, teachers, entrepreneurs, engineers, politicians, retail workers and moms that are uplifting our communities.  This month's newsletter is dedicated to all of you ladies that are putting in work inside and outside of the home - in the middle of a pandemic no less!  With all of the pressures and expectations society places on women it is not easy to wear all the hats we have to wear - and look good while doing it!  And yes, we as women always face pressure around our appearance.  As it says in our mission statement, Our goal, at the UnFrumpyMommyStore (and on the UnFrumpyMommy YouTube Channel, TikTok and Instagram) is to aid women in their quest to becoming the best version of themselves, while juggling all the demands of our hectic daily lives.
