"You may write me down in history, With your bitter, twisted lies, You may trod me in the very dirt, But still, like dust, I’ll rise." - Maya Angelou
What makes Black Women beautiful? Our resiliency? Our passion? Our creativity? Our diversity? Our strength? I say all of the above. Fearless women like Ruby Bridges and Rosa Parks were trailblazers in the fight for civil rights. Today, Black Women continue to lead and be at the forefront of social justice movements. Madame CJ Walker was before her time as the original "beauty influencer", who had to work outside the traditional system to sell her products. We're inspired by the political leadership of Michelle Obama and Shirley Chisolm. Yet for all our strength and resiliency, we still need to protect each other and show solidarity with our sisters. The tragic deaths of Breonna Taylor and Sandra Bland highlight the disparities in police treatment of Black Women versus other races of women. Black Women continue to die disproportionately during childbirth. Our inherit strength does not prevent us from becoming victims of sexual and domestic abuse (i.e. Meg the Stallion). That's why it is so important that we support each other and reach out to organizations for and by Black Women when we need a helping hand. It has always been my goal that my various social media platforms and endeavors serve an inspiration to other Black Women that you can do great things. As I've said frequently on my YouTube channel, I definitely didn't grow up with a "silver spoon in my mouth", but through education and hard work I've been able to become a successful social media influencer and entrepreneur. I know that everyone reading this blog has the ability to do great things. Stay encouraged, resilient, faithful and strong like our ancestors, and you'll do great things!
